The management style of our residents models appropriate compassion, benevolence, fairness, structure, accountability and integrity in the treatment environment to embrace and welcome the resident with substance use / mental health disorders.
Our treatment programs incorporate certain democratic principles to enhance our clinical potency. At every level of management, decision-making is carefully examined. From work schedules to group assignments, treatment team meetings, recreational, leisure activities to discipline and discharge.
The Residential Life (RL) staff in conjunction with the treatment staff play a major role in the day-to-day program functioning. The RL staff work with the clinical team and worksite supervisors assignment to worksites based upon the results of the worksite bi-monthly meetings. They participate in the multi-disciplinary treatment clinical meetings and treatment interventions. The team also arrange for agency telephone coverage, sort and distribution of agency and client’s mail; take a lead role in the coordination of recreational and leisure activities; to monitor family visitation; and the monitoring of same sex urine drug screens.
The one primary responsibility of the RL staff is to monitor and redirect the residents who do not comply with the programs rules. The method of discipline (the practice of training people to obey rules or a code of behavior, using corrective action methods) needs to be within our structure of the rehabilitation therapeutic process. The goal is to provide an understanding of their misbehavior while offering an alternative behavior whenever possible. The concept of resident responsibility and choice being central to the process.
