Catholic men who live in DPD’s programs have the opportunity to join local Knights of Columbus Councils and Catholic Women have the opportunity to join Columbiette Auxillaries.
The Knights of Columbus is the world's largest Catholic fraternal service organization. Founded by the Venerable Father Michael J. McGivney in New Haven, Connecticut, in 1882, it was named in honor of the navigator Christopher Columbus. There are more than 1.8 million members in 15,000 councils, with nearly 200 councils on college campuses. Membership consists of four different degrees, each exemplifying a different principle of the Order. The Knights of Columbus give back to the Department for Persons with Disabilities and to other Disability organizations through their annual Disability Drives.
