Catholic Charities, Diocese of Paterson provides help and creates hope for thousands of people each day.   We help based on need, not creed and support individuals of all ages.   The work we do is vast and the need for our services is great. 

We are looking for philanthropic, young professionals to join our Emerging Advocates Board to help us expand our voice in the community and spread the word about the important work we do.   This exciting new group, will launch in the Spring of 2020.

Mission of the Emerging Advocates Board

The mission of Catholic Charities, Diocese of Paterson's Emerging Advocates Board is to support the overall mission and activities of Catholic Charities, Diocese of Paterson by acting as ambassadors,  sharing technical skills and by engaging other community members in becoming the next generation of Directors.  We are hoping that our Emerging Advocates Board can help us connect to a group of future nonprofit leaders, corporate partners and volunteers.   This is not a governing board, but our Emerging Advocates Board will be kept informed of what is happening around our agencies and programs. 

• To support our organization’s critical work in the community for children, youth, individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, Veterans, those in recovery, families in crisis, seniors, and whomever is in need. The work of Catholic Charities is widespread, diverse and supports many types of causes in the community right here, at home, in the Diocese of Paterson.  

•   To play an active role in engaging other young people to support Catholic Charities,     Diocese of Paterson fundraising, advocacy and leadership programs.

• To enhance your career, diversify your resume, and partake in important community service while gaining a sense of philanthropy.

• To develop nonprofit leadership skills and the potential to join the Catholic Charities, Diocese of Paterson Board of Directors in the future.

• To grow your professional network.

• Whether Catholic or not, members have the opportunity to grow spiritually, and better connect to their own faiths through helping those in need. 

• To engage with a philanthropic group of innovators and to have fun at our socials and other Catholic Charities events!

We are not charging a mandatory membership fee to join, but we are offering different levels of membership benefits for suggested, annual donations. 

We ask that you help us by attending our events, providing your expertise, and reaching out to your networks for support. We will host bi-monthly evening mixers, and other events at various restaurants and at Catholic Charities programs throughout Morris, Passaic and Sussex County.  We will offer food and beverages at these events, and ask that you sign up  and pay before attending to help us cover costs. 

Any level of support is greatly appreciated and will make a difference in the lives of many!

•  Display an extraordinary commitment helping those who are underrepresented and in need. 

• Be an enthusiastic community advocate for Catholic Charities, Diocese of Paterson. 

• Attend a minimum of one Catholic Charities fundraising, community building or volunteer events annually.

• Attend regularly scheduled Emerging Advocate Socials held once every other month.  

• Commit to a one-year term with the option to continue involvement after the first term.

• Identify, nominate, consider and elect new members of the Emerging Advocates Board. 

• Maintain a basic understanding of the programmatic affairs of the organization. 

• Provide volunteer advisory skills in your area of expertise.

• Have all outside activities approved by the Chief Executive Officer, or Development Director.
